Harassment Policy

MindQuake is dedicated to providing a harassment-free convention experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, or any other factor. We do not tolerate harassment of, or discrimination against, convention participants in any form. Convention participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled from the convention without a refund at the discretion of the convention organizers.

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, doxxing, sustained disruption of talks or other events, non-negotiated inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention.

If any conference attendees engage in any of the harassing activities listed or any other activity that the conference organizers agree is harassment, the convention organizers may take any action they deem appropriate, including warning the offender or expelling the offender from the conference with no refund.

If you are being harassed, or notice that someone else is being harassed, or have any other concerns, please contact a member of the MindQuake staff immediately. MindQuake staff will be happy to help participants contact hotel/venue security or local law enforcement, provide escorts, or otherwise assist those experiencing harassment to feel safe for the duration of the convention. We value your attendance and want all of our attendees to have a fun and safe experience.

In addition to not harassing other conference attendees, please be aware that absolutely no harassment of other hotel or venue guests will be tolerated. Also please note that the hotel staff are not members of our community and they are working, so no harassment of these employees will be tolerated either. Please let them do their jobs and be respectful of the fact that being nice to you is part of their job. That niceness in no way indicates consent or even an interest in participating in any of our activities. Under no circumstances should hotel staff be asked to participate in hypnosis, offered hypnosis, or intentionally exposed to nudity or sexual offers or acts.

We expect participants to follow these rules at all convention venues and convention-related social events. While we cannot control what you post on FetLife or other social media, or how you behave in your daily life, we would appreciate keeping these guidelines in mind in those environments as well.
